In the Footsteps of the First World War

Photography's adversary is haze. In this instance, a notably dense one. The sun is obscured, casting a gentle glow over the landscape, with a subtle contrast between light and shadow. Nonetheless, I dared to shoot this composition against the light. It stirred something within me. Perhaps its historical resonance? Highly probable. Everywhere around, remnants of the First World War battles abound. Like the trench right in the foreground or the artificially carved caves in the rocks on the right side of the panorama. They often served as machine gun nests or artillery positions.

Panorama compiled from total of 300 frames (5-level exposure bracketing of 60 frames in three rows).

Equipment: Sony Alpha A1, Zeiss Otus 28mm f/1.4
